A cloze test (also cloze deletion test) is an exercise, test, or assessment consisting of a portion of text with certain words removed, where the participant is asked to replace the missing words. Cloze tests require the ability to context and in order to the correct words or type of words that belong in the deleted of a text. This exercise is commonly for the of native and second learning and .

You might be relieved to know that this was quite a difficult example, with a Gunning-Fog index of 11.84 (i.e. it is estimated you would need 12 years of schooling to comprehend the text).
